Blogging 101…or maybe 102?

Most of you may not know this, but back in 2013 I started a little blog. It was a little blog about my struggles becoming a writer and my desire to follow my dreams. I liked writing it. A few people read it. And then, I walked away from it.

I walked away for many reasons, the majority of which are the same reasons why I stopped writing for a few years there. My life imploded. My publisher went out of business and I didn’t know what I was going to do with an unfinished series. Getting the rights back wasn’t hard, but no other traditional publisher was going to pick up an unfinished series by a relatively unknown author.

I didn’t feel like writing. My husband loves snarky comments, and it wasn’t until the 1000th time he asked me how my books were coming along that I decided I needed to do something about my little writing funk. So, I bucked up. Then, with new covers in tow, I self-published.

Fast forward to today. I’m working on new projects (2 of them, by the way), and struggling again with writer’s block because I’m torn over which direction I want to go in. This got me thinking about how I used to handle my writer’s block when I first started this journey. That lead to my thinking about this little blog I had. And so, I whipped out Google and sure enough, there it was.

I imported it.

If you keep scrolling down, you’ll see new posts. Well, new old posts. The start of the Netherworld, all the way back to 2013. That was a long ass time ago, but I still have the same goal. And guess what? Book 7 of the Netherworld is the only one not out right now, and it won’t be long before I’m done, almost SEVEN YEARS later.

None of my upcoming series will take seven years to complete, so that’s a plus. Looking back on where I was then versus where I am now is pretty dang cool. And you know what else? I’m not going anywhere any time soon. I’m sticking to this journey because after all, it’s about the journey, not the destination.

BEFORE DAWN & other goodies

In case you’ve been wondering what I’ve been doing these past few months, I swear I’ve been working. Really. And not just at my day job either, but actually writing and all the good stuff that goes with it.

Just to prove it, I’m here to announce Netherworld 6 BEFORE DAWN is coming. It will be released on 7.16.19. Keep a look out for the cover reveal, which will be held on 7.8.19 and done through Xpresso Book Tours. The pre-order will go up on Amazon the same day.

Book 7 is sitting at around the 80% mark, so expect to see the series wrap up before the end of the year. I’m also expecting to launch not one, but two new series in 2019. One of these is in the same universe as the Netherworld, although it doesn’t include any of the characters you’ve met so far. The other series? Not only is it not in the same universe, it’s not even in the same millennia.

The first teaser for one of the series will be available at the end of Before Dawn, but if you can’t wait that long then sign up for my Newsletter where you get access to all this before everyone else plus more.

Happy reading, my friends!

After the Netherworld?

COLE!!! sigh…

In case you haven’t seen it already, Taken by Darkness is slated for release later this month. Book 6 is in edits and book 7 is nearing the 75% mark. Since the Netherworld series is set to only include 7 books total that leaves me with the burning question: What comes after the Netherworld?

I found that, while writing the series, I left myself with a ton of unanswered questions. What ever happened to Rhiannon, the fae princess who betrayed her own people when she saved Liam and Heidi in Up in Flames? What about Alex from Once Bitten and Wild and Untamed? That poor guy was covering everyone’s ass and cleaning up their messes when they couldn’t handle it themselves. He deserves a happy ending, too.

I hate to break it to you, but the questions will only skyrocket after reading Taken by Darkness with the warlocks of Locke Island and book 6 with those in and around Boston. You all know I love at least a little bit of a cliffhanger, so brace yourselves… **cue the maniacal laughter**

Okay, don’t cuss me out. I have good news! I intend to answer all those questions. Rhiannon? Check. Alex? Double check. All of those still coming in books 5, 6, and 7? No worries, I got you covered.

No promises on when the first of these books will be released, but I guarantee it won’t be until after book 7 comes out. I’m still in the outlining process and if I released Rhiannon’s story before book 7, I’d ruin the ending of the series and well, that’s just not cool.

What I do want to know is: WHO DO YOU WANT TO READ ABOUT? Rhiannon? Alex? Ben? Travis? Pecora? Some random cashier who wasn’t more than a blip on the page?

In addition to the Netherworld spinoff series, I’ve also started work on a completely unrelated open-ended sci fi romance series. I’ll post more about that one once I’m cemented in what exactly I’m doing with it. What I can say is that each story is looking to be between 40-50k words (for comparison purposes the Netherworld books are between 55-80k). The first one will hopefully be released before the end of the year.

So, hang in there and be ready for the onslaught of books I start throwing at you. Also, be prepared if I need to take a month off here and there between releases because OMG words can be hard for smart-making after you’ve sat in front of a computer for fifteen hours straight.

PS: I’m also working on a newsletter that’ll feature exclusive content as well as information on upcoming releases, so if you’re interested…

Success! You're on the list.

Upcoming Projects

Lotan is live! That makes me super happy. It’s also the only book out right now that’s available wide – meaning available through other platforms beyond Amazon. I’m looking for it to also become available via iBooks, but I haven’t gotten there. I’ve been too busy!

Wild and Untamed has a cover! Covers days are the best days thanks to my cover artist (Sweet ‘n Spicy designs). She’s kicks it every single time. Book 4 in the Netherworld series will be available for pre-order by the either the last week or January or first week of February with the release sometime around the second week of February.

Cid is also coming! I told you, I’ve been busy. Look for the second installment in the Oceanid series toward the end of February. I’ll post more about it in the coming weeks.

I have been fighting this stupid cold since last week. I can’t stop coughing and I’ve been stuck in the bed, whining about how miserable I feel. My poor husband is about to lose his mind, I’m sure.

Anyway, since I’m home sick today and, I must admit, have a bit of cabin fever, I’ve decided to do something a bit different. I was already scheduled to have a cover made today for the 1st in my new Oceanid novella series. My original game plan was: cover today, format the novella later this week, and then release by the weekend. Maybe next week. Something like that. So, since I’m not going anywhere or doing anything today except sleeping off some NyQuil, I’m going to do it all today since I know that there’s nothing like a good book when you’re feeling under the weather.

So here it is. LOTAN:
